Are you getting the control characters for just one command, or for more than one? This sounds weird enough that you'd probably have to debug this yourself. Also, does this happen in the "regular" bash window, rather than rxvt? Does this happen in an xterm? > I haven't discovered how to restore editing bindings to the BASH command > line other than closing the RXVT window and re-opening it. Try "set -o emacs".
