I located a bash 3.0-11 AKA 3.00.16(11) install, which works correctly on this
machine as well.

Having located http://article.gmane.org/gmane.os.cygwin/68764, I belive it to be
related to this patch. Especially as a rebuild from source with 13 exhibited the
same behaviour.

I am unable to locate source for 11 or 12 today, so I have not looked into the
code at this point.
