Simulation... Hmmm... You're examples were using notepad and iexplorer. For notepad, ssh into the server and use vi. For iexplorer, explore lynx, a terminal based web browser. Then again, why would you need to be on the server to browse the web with a browser - just browse the web from your desktop. Other examples? Other "simulations".
