This was the initial proposal, before resizability was implemented.  IMO,
resizable setup is better, if you're careful (i.e., don't resize the
panels to be smaller than the standard size; in fact, only use "Maximize"
on the chooser screen, and "Restore" back to the original size for
others).

Sure, but pretty much everything in the dialogs will need to be changed --
not just the size, but also the positions of each widget.  Not impossible,
but tedious, and pretty useless with general resizability available.
