On one installation of Cygwin, MC takes a long time (45 seconds) to 
comes up. Other Cygwin  programs (like Info, Man, e.g.)  have 'normal' 
performance.

I don't *think* it's my path, I checked and fiddled with that and 
nothing changed.  I tried -u -d with MC.

The machine is a single user W98 machine. What should I check?   It's a 
new install, late Sept. 2003.

( Also ..... MC crashes frequently after viewing *small* files, too.  
If, instead, I EDIT them it's fine. BTW, I read a Cygwin application  
forum post  (~4/2003) which mentioned that MC crashes with VIEW, but it 
said it happened only for large files.)
