You really do need to Read The Flipping Manual :).  With imapd you _must_
ensure that there are two entries in /etc/passwd (Everyone and System).

However even when you have done this you may well still get authorisation
problems, as I do.  Unfortunately I haven't managed to get any help from
anyway.
