However, the following is given in the ChangeLog:

x.  Bash no longer auto-exports HOSTNAME, HOSTTYPE, MACHTYPE, or OSTYPE,
    even if it assigns them default values.

Try

	set | grep OS

and these variables are still available, just not exported.
