Are you starting a cygwin bash shell from the shortcut that the setup sticks on your desktop? When you start that bash shell from the desktop, AFAIK you ARE logged into "the cygwin". Please give us more detail about what you are trying to do- I have never had to "login into the cygwin" and I love using cygwin, it works wonderfully. -Peter -----Original Message----- From: Mark Toung [mailto:mtoung@ariba.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2001 3:45 PM To: 'cygwin@cygwin.com' Subject: cant even login uh..i cant even login into the cygwin (less even try ssh) by typing login on the screen... i am on a standalone NT4 server and my /etc/passwd looks like joe::500:513:joe smith,joe,S-1-5-21-1095256405-657077046-1539857752-500:/home:/bin/bash and the group file is like None:S-1-5-21-1095256405-657077046-1539857752-513:513: uh..can like someone please help me? i read teh docs and all the forums i can find and i still cant get this thing going thx m -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
