you could try export CC=gcc before calling make or editing the makefile
directly.

btw. there are cygwin ispell binaries available *somewhere*, i did download
them a few days ago. Try a google search if the binaries are all u need.

I couldn't find ispell anywhere on cygwin - so I downloaded one
from a gnu site. When I try to make it - it keeps looking for "cc"
instead of gcc ...

Any suggesitons on how to get ispell working under cygwin? Thanks.
