Certainly. If this doesn't work for you by default, read the user doc and FAQ's w.r.t to chmod and security/permissions. The short answer is that this will work as expected on NT only and only if you set ntsec and/or ntea on your CYGWIN environment variable. The docs give the details of these changes and why you may or may not want to exercise these options.
