When I'm diagnosing I'm using Cygwin tools.  Non-cygwin tools don't know
that /usr/lib == /cygwin/lib.

Ok, try upgrading to gcc-2.95.2-7.  You may have to click (maybe more
than once) on the gcc-2.95.2-6 to get it to show the gcc-2.95.2-7
package.
