I'm running Win98SE and I can finally use cvs! :-) Thankyou.
I haven't tested it thoroughly, but I don't get those old errors of the
form:

cvs commit: Rebuilding administrative file database
cvs [commit aborted]: cannot open dbm file .#1013 for creation: Permission
denied

thanks for getting it to use gdbm (if that was the problem, I was never 100%
sure)

I did:

cd /
export CVSROOT=/cvs
cvs co CVSROOT
cd CVSROOT

Things worked and looked fine

I'm running Win98SE + cygwin1.1.4
maybe the face Travis was using 1.1.3? Just a shot in the dark.
