OK, I tried a number of things, had to force a re-install.  What expect
wants is to see a complete copy of /share/dejagnu in the directory above
where it's located.  sym-link wasn't good enough, neither was mount.
Did anyone suggest how to force a re-install?  I found that removing
/etc/setup appears to do the job.
