And I snarfed those changes and send them in during the beta test for
Bash 2.04. I am unable to duplicate this problem, no matter how I try
(i.e., setting HOME to "/" from command.com, then starting Bash, everything
works fine. Unsetting HOME, then starting Bash however resulted in error
message about it not being set.)

Chris,
 Could you send any patches for Bash that you might have? I want to make
sure that I have not messed up something. I was born paranoid, and there
is no cure.
