I do not think that they are mutually incompatible.  But, I also
have not tested with Cygwin 1.0 CD.  However X11R6.x developed for
B20.1 will not work with Latest SnapShot because the cygwin1.dll
exports _ctype_.  It will link but execution of apps reports
Cygwin1.dll failed to initialized missing _ctype_ symbol, or does access
violations.  Therefore I have on my URLs the binaries marked *-ss-dev.tar.gz
for the latest cygwin snapshots.
