I'm quite confused as to what you're trying to say above, other than
the fact that your code is not doing what you expect it to do.

As for problem with your code dying, I recommend a debugger session 
at the very least before asking for help. Is there a reason why you
don't/can't use a debugger?

Sorry, but given the information you have provided, I see no reason why 
it *shouldn't* be your code.
