When I tried including the hostname in filenames in bash, I ended up with carriage returns in the filenames. Example: bash-2.02$ bash -version GNU bash, version 2.02.1(2)-release (i586-pc-cygwin32) Copyright 1998 Free Software Foundation, Inc. bash-2.02$ echo -n `hostname` | od -c 0000000 b o r s \r 0000005 -- * Bill Kelly mailto:kelly@softwired-inc.com * SoftWired AG http://www.softwired-inc.com * Technoparkstrasse 1 * CH-8005 Zurich * +41-1-445 23 70 -- Want to unsubscribe from this list?
