Well, since you asked nicely :)
I use CFLAGS='-Wall -pipe -O6 -mpentium -march=pentium' for my P200MMX.
-funroll-loops or -funroll-all-loops (which also turns on -funroll-loops)
sometimes helps for floating-point heavy code. Try it and see if it helps
or not. There's also -malign-double, also for floating point. (and only
sometimes helps.)
BTW, -mpentiumpro makes pgcc optimize for a ppro (or PII, PIII).
-march=pentiumpro makes pgcc actually use ppro-specific instructions
(AFAIK).
