there are the optimizations for PPro, yet the real difference between
PPro/PII/PIII are the MMX/Catmai instructions, which are (at least to my
knowledge) pretty tough to implement in a compiler. This has to do
(please correct me if I am wrong) with their use of FP registers and their
nature being SIWD -- this means the compiler would have to really know
what the programmer wanted to create with a chunk of C code..
