i have coredump set to 1000000. use 'ulimit -a' to get a full list. 'ulimit' reports some other value (i don't know which because several are 'unlimited' and that is what it reports... i don't have a man page for ulimit on my computer :^( and it doesn't like --help...)
you can also pass a parameter of -core to the X server to cause it to core dump. the best way to find out what it is for sure and other neat stuff is to run 'X --help' ... if my memory suits me.
BTW, as i said before i was having trouble at **one** particular place in the X server (mga only) which caused QT (ie KDE), wine, lsfonts, TK (of TCL/TK fame and all related scripts dependent on wish) to segfault...
