sorry, we picked out, that the power management of our
board switches our CPU in some kind of suspend mode after
20 minutes of inactivity on keyboard and mouse.
I worked remote on the linux station and the power management
does not recognize this, so i had to reboot and disable the system
power management.

After hitting some keys on the keyboard or rebooting, we get no longer
these times for the gausil program:
P2-400 egcs-1.1.2 -O6 -march=pentiumpro -mcpu=pentiumpro
3.06 sec !!!

but these times:
1.14 sec!!!

the Visual-C++ 6 compiler is slower:
1.32 sec !!!
