I think the original author really wanted to get helped,
and I don't blame him for that, but I do blame him for
wanting the help privately mailed rather than openly

Neither English nor German is my primary language so you're most

You're absolutely right.
But I don't consider a bugrep "wanting to say something" or needing
"help". So the above didn't apply.
A real bugrep doesn't need a reply. The programmer can look over it
and say "been there, done that". And go on and actually fix stuff.
Of all the "internal compiler error in haifa-sched", how much
_real_ bugreps where there ? Not *that* much I think.
