Hi, I'm not on the mailing list so please reply directly to me, thanks!
I just tried compiling the latest Linux kernel and found out that although
compilation goes perfectly, the kernel locks on boot after INIT starts and
(after/during) the swap space is added. This is the last thing that it
displays on the screen. I do not have the ability to actually track down
the problem, but I wanted to notify you guys so that you are aware of it.
2.1.101 works fine when compiled with standard gcc.
Here's some specific info:
Kernels attempted: 2.1.101, 2.1.102
gcc version pgcc-2.90.27 980315 (egcs-1.0.2 release)
CFLAGS= -O6 -mpentium -mstack-align-double (haven't tried any others)
Distribution: RedHat Linux 5 (glibc2)
Processor: AMD K6-233
RAM: 64Mb
Hard Drives: IDE (UDMA)
What happens: kernel locks on boot during/after adding swap space...
