I'm not on this mailing list but i cant find any other means of solving tmy problems without asking for help here. Why? well this is probably the _only_ place where i don't get asked "why do you want to recompile your..." 8D Anyways. I have for 5 days tried to compile xfreee v 3.3.1 with both egcs (1.0.1) and pgcc. the source i have used is the Redhat supplied one. I have tried without any patches and with the redhat supplied patch that changes the compilation/configuration patch (I discared all thoos "path" and pam patches) Now I've tried this with egcs on a i486 with some -align optimisations and the -mcpu=i486 and -march=i486 and on a i586 with pgcc with some -align patches and the -mcpu=pentium and -march=pentium Both of these boxes are "ix86-pc-linux-gnu" with glibc-2.0.6+threads+crypt. Theese five days have resulted in alot of nice utils but _no_ xservers at all! What I'm looking for is Xfree3.3.1 iX86-pc-linux-gnu compiled with pgcc or egcs with as many (working) pentium optimisation (running on i486 too) _binaries_ to download coz I just cant take this any more... I do not know if the trouble I am having compiling has anything at all to do with egcs/pgcc or if there is something missing on my system. But one of the goals when upgrading to egcs/pgcc was to recompile _everything_ and espesially X windows. But .. when everything important is recompiled (3 weeks worth of work) I fing (after 5 days struggle) that X windows wont compile... plz help me on this... Since I'm on a dialup mashine I can't make an "open user" allowing anytone to login and set the configuration thing up for me I sort of have to get the binaries... _I'm _NOT_ on this mailing list so plz reply directly_ /regards Tony Gottfridsson tony AT localbar DOT com
