Presently, I have a dual-boot system based on DR-DOS
Loader R1.04 (1999/01/07), where the default O/S is
MS-DOS 7.10 (with optional W98SE GUI/Extender) and
the alternative O/S is DR-DOS 6.0 (4/92 edition).
Now I'm wondering, is it possible to add FreeDOS 1.0
to that mix?
The DR-DOS Loader only supports MS-DOS as a default
O/S, whereby (AFAIK) it simply passes control to the
partition boot sector, which then loads IO.SYS, etc.
All the alternative O/S are defined via the 'boot.lst'
configuration file, which supports various Digital
Research O/S, some obscure O/S that I don't recognize,
and O/S2. There is no explicit support for MS-DOS, nor
FreeDOS.
So, without making FreeDOS the default O/S, and thereby
losing support for MS-DOS, is there any way to specify
FreeDOS as an alternative O/S boot option in 'boot.lst'?
I've tried using the "Binary" option, for 'kernel.sys'
and 'fdosboot.bin' (created using FreeDOS 'sys'), but
neither of these worked.
(If this isn't possible, I'll have to ditch the DR-DOS
Loader and try something else, such as "grub4dos".)
Joe.
