1993 would be "today" to my DOS and a "couple of years from now" to my Netware 
3.11. :)

While gating is still fairly common between Fido echomail and Usenet newsgroups, 
there are also NNTP server front-ends which access and store locally in Fido 
messagebase formats enabling dynamic message-by-message translation as opposed 
to wholesale batch translation of a lump of data in this format to a lump of 
data in that format.
