In article <000f01c23490$30210300$c03dfea9 AT atlantis> you write:

They are the drives I've been using and my experience was as yours.
If the 250s are as good as the 100s I've got six or seven years of
trouble-free use ahead of me.

You're right, the ATAPI drives I've got drop right in and work with the
existing drivers. My ZIP-100s were all pretty old, but the drivers I've
been using are updated to '96. The ZIP-250s I've now got come with
drivers dated '98 and they're about 9% quicker than the '96 vintage
(with the 250 drives).
Sadly, while there are DOS drivers on the CD, there aren't any DOS utils
(that I can see) and the drives appear to have been simplified because
some of the commands (eject for example - I loved that one :) appear to
have been dropped. The old DOS utils work with the new drivers OK,
though.

Don't the Cypress drivers work ? The way I read the DUSE 4.2 docs, they
should work with most USB disk drives, including ZIPs.
In the UK, so far as I can see, SCSI ZIP-250s are non-existent, but the
ATAPI version is freely available and already cheaper than my old
ZIP-100s were :(

Never even seen one ! My attempts at getting an LS-120 to work wasn't
exactly a resounding success, but the drives are very hard to find in
the UK these days. From the number I've seen in skips they either
didn't work that well or just lost the popularity race.

Alex.
