Sorry Neil, You probably have one of those great M$ screwed up things called a WIN Modem. Needs special files from WinDoze to run it. IBM probably won't be able to provide any patch for DOS, since they made a deal with M$ not to do any more work on DOS after PCDOS 2000. WIN ME is not a DOS frienly world and you will have to write some of your own BASIC files to get DOS programs to work with it. Since it has no DOS underlayment as WIN9x has, you can not run them in a DOS window either. You might consider installing WIN98SE if you really need Windoze to run the sound card.
