We are trying to put something together that can be used with minimum
training. Many recyclers have a volunteer workforce and need simple
straight forward procedures that produce the same results, every time.

My experience with older machines has been good in general, but I have
found that older machines often have large ide drives that are not
directly supported by the on-board roms. This isn't a problem for Linux,
once it's running, but getting the boot process to work can be an ordeal
for well intentioned but unschooled (in computer geekery ;-) )
volunteers. There are many things that work, but not many that work
consistently in all situations.

I found a shareware package on Simtel that containes EFISK that will
replace the mbr, I am going with that for now..

I do appreciate the responses to my query.
