I played around with the V3 demo a few years ago, and as I recall, the
install batch file (at the time), had a couple of bugs (fixable, however),
so this might explain your "blank screen experience". Since the demo
versions are "crippleware", unfortunately, they are not very useful in
themselves.
I also agree that Arachne is now a better choice than the V3 demo,
particularly as this is fully functional and works quite well. OTOH, a
working copy of V4 would be better still, since this supports Javascript,
whereas we have been waiting for this capability in Arachne for a long,
long time. :-/
