I hope the following is of interest to DOS users here ... <g>

Over the years, I have used a number of DOS file viewers, but
they all had one or more of the following deficiencies :
- They sometimes "hung" on certain machines.
- They sometimes "hung" when reading network files (M$ Client).
- They had "blind spots" when searching through large files.
- They had "folding" and/or "missing lines" when scrolling through
  large files.
- Some were not freeware.

Now from the Land of Rus, comes a file viewer that doesn't seem
to have any of the above deficiencies - HighViewer 1.2.62 by
Dmitry Simerzin. Furthermore, it has the following features :
- It is mouse aware. Not only can you select most menu items
using the mouse, you can also scroll up or down by left-clicking
(small steps) or right-clicking (large steps) on the top or bottom
  of the display area.
- It can display in either text or hexadecimal modes. It can handle
either DOS/Windoze or Unix/Linux text files.
- It can provide a text-only display of HTML files, by selecting it's
  "HTML filter".
- Many other features, for those that need them! ;-)

Note that the documentation file is in Russian. However, the
program itself has both Russian and English modes, including
the menu options and help screens. So it's quite easy to use,
even without the documentation.

Anyway, if this sounds like something useful to you, you can
download it via "http://highviewer.webservis.ru/eng_main.htm",
alternatively "http://www.geocities.com/hiviewer/eng_main.htm".

Joe.
