Hi. so you would use lanman on dr dos machine, but not use the pnw part of
dr dos. right? Lanman takes the place of pnw when you run lanman instead of
pnw, is that right? but if i needed pnw to keep up the preexisting network,
can lan man run along with pnw? what is the advan of lan man instead of pnw,
in the case where i need a win 98se computer to get access to the dos files.
also, I think i have heard that win98 would need to be the server, that pnw
cannot be the server when connecting to a win 98se computer. Is ms client a
better choice. genrally what i really need is a win 98se machine to connect
to the server of a pre existing peer to peer pnw network. i just need the
win machine to pick files off the dos server over twisted pair. what
protocols are available. is there a web site to hand hold me thorugh this. i
hope not to buy a new product for the entire project, just hang a win box
off the preexisting little network. I have gained alot from previous tips on
this topic, hopefully i am close to changing the subject back to something
else.

SMB protcol support is what gets you connectivity between DOS, Win9x,
and NT (and that's what LanManager gives you). You should have the
four-disk series to Install it on your lap-top. Make sure you've defined
"shares" on your Win9x machine so that your Dos machine can get to them.
The shares should be set to "share - public between machines.
