90 degree right angle:
90 =  2 x 3^2 x 5 
90 can be (integer) divided by 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 15, 18, 30, 45

100 Metric degree right angle
100 = 2^2 x 5^2 
100 can be (integer) divided by 2, 4, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50
equilateral triangle is 3 x 66 2/3 degrees.

Pre calculator & pre computer 90 was considered easier to use than 100
-- plus there was lots of resistance to the change.
