Those mothervoards that have that feature, will allow you to boot from
ZIP, LS120, and CDROMs as well as other HDs. It isn't really that
inconvenient or long to do, because you have to reboot the system when
you change OSes anyway. It is not as convenient as a boot manager but is
an alternative. The is true especially with WINDOZE and NT because they
both rewrite the MBR and boot sector when they are installed. However if
one uses LILO as aboot manager and put it on some boot partition within
the first 2GB or 8GB (depending on what your system BIOS will handle)
you can bypass this problem as well. Although I have not received the
CPU yet for this new MB I just got, accorfing to the manual I can also
boot from SCSI. So, since SCSI allows booting from both ID0 and ID1,
that is even more combinations to choose booting from and finding an
approperaite boot sector. I have not had a chance to check it out yet as
The CPU should come in within the next couple of days. But I still need
to complete backing up everything first. So it will probably be several
days before the new system is up and running.
