I have two platforms running these Tyan Trinity 1590S 100AT MBs, both
loaded with add-on cards. This MB is a really excellent choice because
of the slot configuration: 1xAGP, 3xPCI, 1xPCI/ISAshared, 3xISA, but
it's very easy to overload and OVERHEAT the PC as a consequence; I've
added 5 extra chassis, slot and drive cooler fans to one very full PC!
For those who really want to make "full use" of UDMA66 drives, or use
more than four EIDE devices, I have had good experiences using the
"Promise Ultra ATA/66" add-on controller cards with this MB.
One word of caution: There are two different versions of this MB:
The final version will run AMD-K6-2, et al, CPUs up to 550MHz, but the
earlier version is limited to 450MHZ [maybe 500MHZ, I forget]. This
limitation CAN NOT be fixed with a BIOS upgrade. Distinguishing marks
are silk screened onto the MB; check the Tyan website.
