LeavesA couple of months or a few months ago, there were a few people
searching for a good modem for DOS. It basically started when someone
had a stupid dorky Winmodem. The subject came up about Winmodems and PnP
modems and using with DOS. Of course you can't use a Winmodem with many
OSes other than WINDOZE 9x. I don't even think you can use them with NT
unless they include NT drivers for the dumbass things.
I just bought a ZOOM legacy ISA modem. We were discussing these a while
back. I won a bid on ebay for a ZOOM 2919-0000-00L (not sure how many
zeros belong with each - but the L is the good part.) It is a Legacy
Modem that can be use without any jumpers installed for stupid PNP, but
I will use the jumpers for all OSes I use. It has V.90, Kflex, and V.80
(video) capability. There were more of these being auctioned on ebay by
the same company. This is exactly the kind of modem that this person
could use. You don't need the V.80, but that is a bonus. I won my bid at
44 and this modem retails for about 149. The company that is auctionong
these is putting one on each day so they probably have several more to
auction off. So anyone wanting an excellent modem (one of the best out
there) should jump on this opportunity.
Go to: www.ebay.com and register. Then go to the modems section of
auctions and enter into the search ZOOM and you will find all of the
ZOOM modems. This is listed as: *NEW IN BOX* ZOOM 56k V.90/V.80
Dualmode ISA for it's title. They ship via UPS and charge 10. So the
total cost for me was 54 I used Pay Pal to pay for it. If you sign up
for Pay Pal you will immediately get 5 bucks. Use the URL below so I get
credit for 5 bucks too,.
This isn't an ad, but some peole were looking for 56K legacy modems and
this is one of the best out there and you can get one cheap. My
distributor does not even carry this one but
the 2919 without the L on the end and does not have near the capabilty
of this one and my cost is over 73. This one also has audio capabilty if
used with your sound card.
