Would you believe the xbios.com might "just possibly" be connected with
the way that DM hides the real size of the hard drive and installs
several
hidden files that control access to the "real HD" and has nothing to do
with
the long file names problem. For instance, the old DM 'V7.09 & older'
used to say set your hard drive to type 9, reboot from a dos floppy and
then run DM. Then when you booted up your computer, you always got the
Blue DM Boot-up Bar which said something like: Hit enter to
continue or "to boot from floppy hit the space bar".
There is also the problem of each hard disk manufacturer licensing a self
modified copy made specifically for their hard disk. Since all of the DM
action takes place before the computer boots up through Command.Com
the real culprit just possibly could be in Command.Com, although that is
out of my knowledge base, being a non-programmer.
