SurvPC isn't like that all the time.  We've had a couple of major flamewars
(both over whether the list should discuss Windows) - the last one ended
with a number of listmembers leaving, and one of them starting a DOS only
list.  There've been a couple of other minor skirmishes, but it's all quiet
now (a handful of messages a day, and all signal).
