: Quote " At the 1993 PC Expo, Bill Gates suggested that Windows NT would
: effectively knock out Unix. In fact he went a step further, saying that
: Windows NT was the same thing as Unix: 'In a short time, it will be the
: most popular form of Unix ever. Windows NT will outsell those other
: incompatible versions of Unix.' " Unquote.

What Bill said about Windows NT in 1993 doesn't necessarily translate to
how it turned out - any more than DOS converged with XENIX. Maybe what he
was referring to was the gutless POSIX subsystem in NT. There's only one
use I've found for that, and that is creating hard links.

: Now that he has had so much trouble with the Justice Department, and with
: Linux becoming so popular,

In fact, apart from the fact that is isn't Unix, it's the most popular
form of Unix ever :-) For a popular Unix that actually _is_ Unix, you'd
probably want to look at MacOS X.
