This used to be just a DR DOS list, but lately, "when Bernie and Patrick
are  not ranting", we seem to be getting a lot of NT and Linux stuff
here.  
Considering the following post concerning security on different OS's I
should think UNIX would be the most secure with Linux right behind. 
My networking instructors, who were all MSCNEI and NCSEI certified, did
not think highly of NT because they thought it was to prone to crash and
difficult to maintain.  However I recently came into possession of a book
titled PC Roadkill, in which Bill Gates himself claims NT is UNIX and all
other UNIX versions are incompatible clones,  so I guess NT should be the
most secure OS in the world.  I wonder if he has stuck someone elses
proprietary code in there to.

Now that he has had so much trouble with the Justice Department, and with
Linux becoming so popular, good old Bill has gone back into the trenches
as Chief Programmer.  Go figure.

Anyone want to try for 32bit CPM?  It is alive and well on the www. 

There is also a DOS web brouser available from http://www.newdealinc.com 
which goes along with their reworked DOS version of the old GEOSWorks
GUI.  I haven't been there recently but I believe they have a 32bit
version  which looks somewhat like WIN9x.  Of course these are not
freeware programs, but they are cheaper than the WIN9x  full version even
including the brouser, and you can download a trial version for free for
personal use.  The last one I tried was a 16bit version and looks like
GEM only with more icons and runs on a 8088 and up with an EGA/VGA
monitor in color or in black and white on a CGA monitor.  Their main
objective is supposed to be to get this software out to schools which
have old computers and not enough  money to buy new ones.
