> >Will dual boot with windows 95 (needs some care in setting it up).
Let me tell you what I did in my machine:
1) The first partition on the disk is DOS FAT16b with 100Mb (could be up to
500Mb), which can be made with FreeFDisk running (Free)DOS. (I used an
old DM - Disk manager)
2) Than comes a Windows FAT32 partition with 3Gb. To make this I booted
from a Win98 diskette and used Win98 fdisk.
3) Then booting in MS-DOS 6.22 (FreeDOS could do) I made an extended
DOS partition with the remaining 1Gb.
4) the MBR I installed from Win98
To switch operating systems, I go to fdisk (whichever DOS is running) and
select the active partition. CAUTION: if your bios has lba but your drive is chs
don't use the current version of FreeFDisk (have a check if all this works before
you do too many instalations.
When I boot FreeDos, DR-DOS or MS-DOS 6.22 from the first partition or
when I boot them from diskete, my disks are like this:
C: first partition
D: third partition (used for interchange)
second partition is not recognized
When I boot Win98 from the second partition my disk is like this:
C: second partition
D: third partition - dos extended - (used for interchange)
E: first partition.
This letter assignment looks natural for me as the C: is suposed to be the
active partition.
This may look strange to some, but it is easy to buid and very confortable to
use. This way I can boot FreeDos on my notebook at any time. And what I believe
is very important: I don't use _any_ multiboot software, I don't like them, and they
allways had a way of getting me in trouble.
in hope my experience can be usefull,
Alain
