Of course, but I find it interesting to dig through unusual
configurations. Sometimes, you can learn alot from them... ;-)

It s almost totally save to use CLOAKING instead of DPMS.
There are two issues known by me:
- CLOAKING causes the system to reboot, as soon as you start the
multitasking TASKMGR. But this is no problem for you, since you
don t load EMM386 /MULTI anyway.
- Running "DPMS off" for a DPMS server provided by CLOAKING
will hang the sytem. Apparently CLOAKING erroneously disables
DPMS services for all the registered clients... ;-)
On the plus side:
+ It provides CLOAKING + DPMS at the same time and approx. the
same memory footprint as DPMS alone. (This is possible because
their concept is very similar.) The Cloaked DPMS server takes
ca. 100 extra bytes (run CLOAKING /NODPMS to disable it - and use
an external DPMS server for example).
+ It can be loaded high (if you happen to have UMBs somehow ;-)
+ Using a LOGITECH mouse driver 6.60+ you will increase your free
Conventional or UMB memory by ca. 26 KB...
? There might be a chance that future issues of MouseWare will
directly talk to DPMS in addition to CLOAKING, which could
make things easier. Talk to Logitech to convince them... ;-)
CLOAKING can be found in the 6.50 and 6.60 issues of Logitech s
MouseWare. I couldn t find it in later issues, but there might
still be different bundles. It should also be available from
Helix/Network Associates with their NETROOM memory manager. They
also had a number of other CLOAKING clients like a disk cache etc.
