Interestingly, a quick test with MS-DOS 7.20 HIMEM.SYS did not showed 
this behaviour on DR-DOS 7.03. It consumed, however, 1.5 Kb instead
of 0.75 Kb of the PC DOS driver. 

Any news regarding the kernel issue that triggers this behaviour?
