the reason you had so much trouble finding info on fdisk/mbr is because
it is an unwritten process in ms/pcdos, and I did't find it in my novell
dos 7 manual but it appears as menu item 5) in dr/novell dos.
using this option replaces the the existing mbr with the novell/drdos
'standard' mbr..it may not work properly but the original mbr is saved as
a hidden, read-only file "oldmbr.bin", in the root directory . when
things turn to dust on your next re-boot you can restore your old mbr by
using fdisk again and choosing 5) restore master boot record. I 'assume'
all your partitions are all 16 bit fat. dos don't like nt or other long
filename fats ergo fat 32 and that may be one reason you have lost sight
of some partitions. If you have access to the last dos version of norton
disk doctor it will recover almost any partition made with dos. tho I
don't know about linux, and nt partitions will problably need a special
nt version.
you also mentioned trouble with netware. my novell class stressed that
all netware partitions should be on the last partition on a disk (non
dos). Last I heard there was still a problem with nt and netware because
'uncle bill' purposely wrote nt to conflict with netware. so that could
also be part of your netware problem.. you problably should go to novell
to check on compatability problems, if you can ever get back up.
when you get it back up I would put nt on its own disk, just for safety
sake, and put linux after dos and before netware on the first drive.
