You may need to back everything up and repartition
and reformat using the MS-DOS utilities. I've never
known DR DOS to be unable to use a partition created

Clever. DR DOS 7.02 is genuinely 100% compatible
with NovDOS 7, maybe? Apparently not MS DOS. ...
