Thanx for the tip about /XMSUMB! I'd forgotten that one.
In the 8 Septebmer 1998 release notes (DR-DOS 7.02) it mentions that
the default of EMM386 is now to turn XMSUMB on, and the switch has
been changed to /NOXMSUMB.

??? Are these new? I see nothing listed in the documentation about
these two commands.

LASTDRIVE is really only needed for Personal Netware. If you're not
running a network leave it off, or set it explicitly to the last
drive letter you need.

Could set FCBS to 0,0 -- most programs no longer use file control
blocks but file handles.

Could always reduce the history buffer if memory is really critical...

If you're running all US English programs on US English hardware you
probably don't need COUNTRY.SYS

I believe IFSHLP.SYS is only required for Windows For Workgroups
networking. If you use Personal Netware you don't need this.
