I have to agree. I have six computers running one version of dos or
another and all loaded up with dos programs. I don't use win95/98 but I
have win3.1/3.11 loaded as an option with a menu to load programs so my
grandchildren and friends kids can use the games I have collected over
the years. It is my understanding that over two thirds of the computers
in the world are 8088/86/186/286 and are prevelent in third world
countries where microsoft won't even sell software for fear of piracy. I
read on one of the german geos/new deal sites where they were trying to
spread the dos and new deal programs in the schools in africa with
donated pc's, xt's & at's. most of the schools have no money ro buy the
computers and software they need. same in other third world countries.
so there is still a large group of dos users out there. we just need to
get the word out to the right people that something is available. there
is a lot of freeware out there which runs well on the old systems.
last time i looked even windoze 95/98 was still a software application
running on top of a dos shell... would you believe msdos7 & 8?? If you
use either of those monsters shell to dos and type ver...
