Ditto ... it could explain some of the ... inconsistencies I have come across.

:I agree with Charles about VFAT LFN being terrible. ::
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Ditto - eeuch, and LFNB3 didn't meet my expectations, what with unusual disk
problems - I remember mentioning these on this list a matter of months ago,
and got precious few answers about what to do. Still, nice idea...running
bash on DOS actually worked...but couldn't run the MEM command under it...

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Though I do notice sometimes (under Linux) that if I access a floppy
(vfat-wise) it comes up with an "Unable to load cp437" or something like
that...and my DOS memory is precious enough as it is...

:> Multiple configuration files (CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT)           ::
:Well, although DRDOS already does some neat things with and in ::
:(D)CONFIG.SYS, I'd like to to also be able to use MS arrangements too. ::
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

MS-arrangements such as? You mean MENU? I have to admit I liked that idea,
but find that chain and goto seems to work well enough for light use
(4 options, one starting a bare system)

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
:> DIR command should have the "standard" options ... /S ... ::
:I'd like that, but as an *option*. ::
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Depends on how much you depend on it (yes sure XDIR supplies /s) but I would
prefer the MS-DOS way (just 'cos I'm used to it - sheesh, here I am saying MS
did something right!! Quick, shoot me and tie me to a ZX81...) - I've been
thinking of writing a separate dir command but don't have the programming
experience ... of course anyone who wants to *could* run the MS-DOS 6.2[12]
COMMAND.COM on top of the DR-DOS base, but I guess that defeats the purpose of
the DR-DOS features, doesn't it?

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
: I really *must* get my ALFS going! ::
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

ALFS? A Little File System? Advanced Linux File System? Another Lame Flaming
Setup?

I can't wait to find out...
Incidentally (not on topic) how's the local Linux group going? Any problems
with DR-DOS under DOSEMU?
