Two things here.  First of all the original message (which you left out)
said he was using 4dos as his shell.  This has been discussed many times
on this list already.  You need to change the exec shell to true in the
opendos.ini file.  That will solve the problem of opening a dos session.
And secondly, to answer your question of installing windows under dr.dos,
That too was answered here, though I'm not sure the answer was adequate.
They said to install dr dos after windows.  No, I submit the answer is to
disable emm386 first.  For some reason, the emm386 that ships with opendos
causes a lot of applications to bug out that don't do so under msdos.
(I'm sure they're working on this problem) However, if you simply donot
load the emm386.exe when you run your system for that session, your
windows program will install just fine.  After it's installed, you can
then put the emm386 back, and things should work just fine.
