Hi,
I cannot help you much with Xcopy alternatives, I am afraid.
In article <199805171054 DOT GAA22997 AT delorie DOT com>, you wrote:

Then you can throw out Windoze already today. :-))
Here is the description of the program you need:
VIEW - the file viewer
======================
Platform: DOS (runs in Windows 3.1 and Win95 windows)
-----------------------------------------------------
VIEW is a fast file viewer and prnter for common word processing file
formats - Wordperfect, Word, Ami Pro, Notepad/Wordpad, Windows Write,
ClarisWorks, RTF, well as HTML and ASCII/ANSI files.
It has text search functions and various print functions, including a
direct link to the compressed font utilities 2COL and JETCOL.
Coupled with the bundled utility BATCHCNV it allows you to convert lists of
files on the fly to two formats - pure ASCII and "soft" ASCII. The latter
does not contain hard returns, except at paragraph breaks, and is useful
for importing files into word processors.
It has a special scrolling mode for visually-impaired users with speech
synthesis software.
It feaures special modes for displaying on the HP Palmtop in its different
display modes.
VIEW is fully configurable.
So much for the description.
You can find Windmill Software's homepage at this URL:

The latest version of View is 14.0.
